Student Information

Welcome all students and prospective students to the GDA student site.  As your GDA Student Liaison I welcome you to explore all that your GDA membership has to offer.  Also, as a GDA member, you are automatically an ADA member and vice versa. With this membership, you’ll be able to take advantage of all the member benefits afforded to GDA and ADA members including online job listings, networking opportunities, awards and scholarships, electronic and paper publications, and much more?

One of the most common questions I hear from non-members is “What does ADA/GDA have to offer me?...Why should I join?”  One of the easiest answers I can give is that membership offers OPPORTUNITIES!  Through my involvement, I have met many dietetic professionals who have shared their vast career possibilities in the field, many of which I did not know existed.  As students we need to prepare ourselves and our careers and professional membership opens those doors.

I have also had the chance to learn more about the nutrition related policies here in our state and learn what I can do as a student to support related health bills.  More importantly, as student members we have the opportunity to speak with one large voice and make a difference in the future of the dietetics field.  Americans are continually becoming more aware of the value of sound nutrition to their health. As dietetic students, it is our responsibility to market our valuable and irreplaceable skills.

I invite you to make a difference and become a member.  Depending on your interest, there are lots of opportunities to become involved, strengthen your knowledge base and skills, and enhance the profession.

And if you are already a member become active within the organization.  The opportunities are abundant and you will not regret it!

Warm Regards,

Lesley Baradel
